This workshop is for the Department of Public Health HSE Mid-West Limerick only.
Aim
The aim of this workshop is to teach the skills for developing a research question, searching, selecting and managing the best available evidence to answer that research question, according to a defined, planned and consistent method.
Learning Outcomes
The session is divided into three parts
Part 1
- Develop a focused research question
- Describe your question using a recognised template such as PICO
- Understand the different types of clinical questions and their corresponding level of evidence
Part 2
- Understand the different sources of information
- Understand and use search language
- Develop a search strategy that is systematic and reproducible
Part 3
- Understand the importance of documenting your search
- Understand Prisma workflow and checklist for transparency, accountability and replicability
- Understand the risk of bias and the importance of inclusion/exclusion criteria
