This workshop is for the Department of Public Health HSE Mid-West Limerick only.

Aim

The aim of this workshop is to teach the skills for developing a research question, searching, selecting and managing the best available evidence to answer that research question, according to a defined, planned and consistent method.

Learning Outcomes

The session is divided into three parts

Part 1

Develop a focused research question
Describe your question using a recognised template such as PICO
Understand the different types of clinical questions and their corresponding level of evidence

Part 2

Understand the different sources of information
Understand and use search language
Develop a search strategy that is systematic and reproducible

Part 3

Understand the importance of documenting your search
Understand Prisma workflow and checklist for transparency, accountability and replicability
Understand the risk of bias and the importance of inclusion/exclusion criteria
